Kikoys
All our 100% mercerized Mercerization is a continuous chemical process used for cotton and cotton/polyester goods to increase dyeability, luster and appearance. This process, which is carried out at room temperature, causes the flat, twisted ribbon-like cotton fiber to swell into a round shape and to contract in length. This causes the fiber to become more lustrous than the original fiber, increase in strength by as much as 20 percent, and increase its affinity for dyes. Mercerizing typically follows singeing and may either precede or follow bleaching (Corbman, 1975). cotton kikoys are dyed and woven in our own workshops, then hand-knotted to create the distinctive border, which adds to their individual appeal.  Available in a rainbow of colours, and a choice of striped pattern or plain , their use is only limited by your imagination.
Approx Size: 104 x 174 cms.

Kid's Kikoys
All little boys and girls like to dress like mummy and daddy, that's why our colourful easy to manage collection is ideal for the little one. With a little help from mom or dad, juniors could look just as cool in their own kikoys. These are a miniature version of the adult kikoys. So enticing are they that many a teenage girl or older sister has been seen wearing one as a short skirt.
Approx Size: 60 x 117 cm

Marini  Sarongs
Kasuku wraps are also available in the sensual Marini fabric for that even cooler and more relaxed feeling.  The beauty of the Marini wraps is that they are made from ultra-light, sheer seductive cotton.  You can craft them into any outfit you want, from a sexy bikini to a cool skirt.  Kasuku Marini's come in plain colours and in two-tone (woven with two colours of yarn).  Also in this range, unique to Kasuku, is the MARIKOY ( a perfect blend of Marini & kikoy) in the Kongoni, Punda Milia and Swara designs.  The hand-knotted fringes add to their charm.

Marikoy
Marikoy Kongoni - The distinctive kikoy border woven in the soft Marini Fabric makes exquisite sarongs.
Marikoy Punda Milia - same as the kikoy but in our sheer fabric.  This zebra print is simple, but eye catching.
Marikoy Swara - Striking, fabulous, fine, eye-catching, exotic - a few words to describe the Swara Marikoy.  Hugs the body beautifully and looks ravishing worn as a scarf.
Size: 110 x 180cm (including fringes)

Marini Two-Tone Sarong
Woven using two colours of yarn, gives this sarong a beautiful hue - almost mystical.  Different shades are seen in varied lights and angles making this sarong very special.

Kangas
The Great East African Sarong - Kangas were traditionally made for women to wear but have long been unisex and multifunctional. The soft, improved, higher quality cotton from which Kasuku Kangas are made makes an ideal fabric for wraps, floaty skirts, trousers and shirts, sun and wind- shields, shawls and curtains. Unlike kikoys, their designs are printed instead of woven. There are many established designs and more being invented every day. The distinct feature of each kanga isn't only the design, but the Swahili proverb printed on it. (Asemae Hajapata, Aliyepaya Hasemi - He who says does not have, he who has does not say) Kangas make great gifts, especially as souvenirs of great events, and also make interesting collectibles. Kasuku Kangas are fringed at the two ends making them more fascinating.
Size: 110 x 180 cm (including fringes)

Maasai Wraps
Dress like the world-famous Maasai in their traditional attire.  Heavier than both kangas and kikoys; they are the traditional outfit of the Maasai.  Shukas usually come in red - the favourite colour of the Maasai, to match their red ochre decorated bodies.
Made predominantly in a checked design, the colours and sizes of stripes vary.
Thrown over the shoulder or tied round the waist by a sword belt, they are multi-functional, from wrap to scarf, rug to blanket.  Shukas are often used in Africa as tablecloths; dog blankets and are ideal for picnics.  We provide you with a choice between the lighter 100% Cotton Shuka and the original heavier acrylic Maasai Shuka.

Size: 152 x 203cm (including fringes)

Maasai Blanket
This is an evolution of the Shuka. It's thicker and heavier and is perfect as a TV blanket or rug. It is made from acrylic and brushed to give it that soft feel. Like the Maasai Shuka, though the designs vary, these are available in predominantly red colour.
